The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of Plan Fee Disclosures

Join us on Thursday, March 7 for "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of Plan Fee Disclosures."  This event will take place at Moss Adams from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m and feature panelists discussing Covered Service Providers, Plan Sponsor and Participant Disclosures, and Participant Self Direction of their Investments.  

Our Panelists

Vince Cacciottoli, Principal, Garvey Schubert Barer

Vince heads the firm-wide Tax and Employee Benefits Practice Group for Garvey Schubert Barer, a law firm with offices in Portland, Seattle, Washington D.C., New York City and Beijing.  Vince has over 30 years' experience in these practice areas and is a recognized expert in his field.  He is listed in Best Lawyers in America and was named Best Lawyer of the Year for Employee Benefits/ERISA Law in Portland, Oregon for 2015 and again for 2019.  He is also a Fellow in the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, the preeminent national professional organization for employee benefits attorneys.  Vince is a Past President of the Western Pension & Benefits Council and also served for many years on that organization's Board of Directors.  He received his B.A. from New York University and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.  He writes and speaks frequently to business and professional groups on benefits and compensation planning and compliance issues.  


Ryan Christensen, Regional Vice President, John Hancock Retirement Plan Services

Ryan Christensen, Regional Vice President, is responsible for business development and relationship management with financial representatives and plan consultants in Oregon and southwestern Washington.

John Hancock is a provider of retirement plan products and services for qualified retirement plans focusing on the zero to $100 million market.

Ryan has acquired more than 20 years' of experience in the retirement plan services industry.  Prior to joining John Hancock, Ryan was with another record keeper from 200 to 2008 where he last served as Pension Consultant.  

Ryan earned a B.A. in Finance and International Business from Oregon State University.  He hold the Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) and the Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) designations from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA).


Darren Holsey, Owner and Executive Consultant, Premier Retirement Services

Darren Holsey is an owner and executive consultant at Premier Retirement Plan Services in Wilsonville, Oregon; nearing 30 years in the industry as a TPA.  Darren has been a long-time contributor for NIPA serving on the education/examination committees, the NAFE planning committee as both member and chair and he currently is NIPA's President on the Board of Directors.  He is an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent, a member of NIPA holding an APA designation and a member of ASPPA holding a QPA and QKA.  On a personal note, Darren still competes nationally as a wakeboarder and coaches on the side.  If you're ever in the mood to go for a ride, hit him up to take you out!


Michael Fennessy, Principal, Duke Financial Partners, LLC

Michael Fennessey is a Principal at Duke Financial Partners LLC, a financial consulting firm in Lake Oswego, Oregon specializing in qualified plans, executive benefits, and business owner & tax estate strategies.  Before his consulting career, Mike was a sales representative in Los Angeles and Portland for several large 401K providers.  While a sales rep, Mike was recognized for both his personal production and pioneering strategies for retirement plan mergers & acquisitions.  Mike is a registered representative with Lion Street Financial, LLC and an investment advisor representative with Lion Street Advisors, LLC where he holds a series 6, 63, 65 and 7 securities license in addition to his life and health license. Mike, his wife Aimee, and their two children reside on a small farm outside Oregon City.  When not tending to his livestock or collecting eggs he can be found on the sidelines coaching recreational soccer or watching his beloved New York sports teams lose yet another game.



Registration is free for members and $50 for non-members.

Professional accreditation credits include: AIF, ASPPA, CFP, CLE Oregon State Bar, CPE for CPAs, CEBS, ERPA, NIPA and SHRM.
